A Deadly Dead by Joy Patrick My Review
About the book
A scandalous town secret brews. A mysterious bank-robbing duo evades the FBI cold case unit. If a wiley amateur sleuth can’t help, nobody can.
As Lilly is busy doing upgrades to Magnolia Manor, all focus is on customer satisfaction and getting those 5-star reviews.
Then crass guest Ethel Grimstone checks in, and all bets are off.
Meanwhile, head FBI agent Brock Armstrong continues to dismiss Lilly’s contribution to the cold case unit. So, when elusive, violent bank robbers continue to taunt the unit, what is she to do but take matters into her own hands?
As Lilly and friend Anne go undercover with the help of the new eccentric librarian, Penelope Quibblesworth, things get more than a little dicey...
But little does Lilly know the evil twist of events that awaits her as she uncovers a sinister town secret along the way that threatens not only Magnolia Manor but Lilly’s own life.
And I thought
Another great read.
I can easily say these book gets better and better.
Joy Patrick continually adds funny and quirk characters.
Some seam to stay to be regulars while a few at least one in this title ends up being the victim.
Lilly's boss Chief Armstrong from the Feds continually plays his role trying to ignore Lilly's ideas and suggestions.
And ends up throwing caution to the wind when Lilly thinks she found thier perps Bonnie and Clyde. Only when arriving there are two many B&C's to count. After reprimanding Lilly he leaves to finish his pot roast and ball game. Only to be called a short time later when the real B&C perp is found and ends up brandishing a gun. Armstrong rolls in with lights along with several other squad cars.
I have to admit I kind of got annoyed with Lilly and her insecurities with Quigle.
Of course in good 'Ole Peter Quigly fashion he saves Lilly when she almost plumits to her death. And then admits what he was really doing at the little jewelry store where his sexy ex wife works.
Marissa of course returns in style. No spoilers here except I will say it involves a cake and a sultry rendition of Happy Birthday.
I have to say I am said to see this one end since I am nearing the end of this series.
