About the book

The Town of Brenham, Texas, Has Gone to the Dogs!

Curl up with your pup and sink into a delightful small-town mystery as riddles and rescues stack up in book one of a new cozy mystery series.

Marigold Evans’ first attempt at rescuing an abandoned pooch lands her in a drainage pipe in Brenham Texas. . .and almost in jail, until Parker Jenson comes to her rescue. Then a bad day only gets worse as the Lone Star Vet Clinic, where they both work, is vandalized and the list of suspects starts to climb. With the help of her fellow employees, Marigold sets out to simultaneously solve the crime, rehab the rescued dog, and help more dogs in crisis. But why would anyone continue to work against all their good efforts?

And I thought

What a charming book.

The Best Cozy Mystery this year.

I was charmed that Christian Writer Janice Thompson wrote a 'Real' Christian Cozy Mystery.

Set in Brenham,Texas I am a native Texan  just like the fun and charming characters who drink Dr. Pepper and eat Bull Bell Ice Cream which is made in Brenham.

All the main characters in this book are practicing Christians.

Mary 'Marigold' having recently lost her mother is a little just a little annoyed with God.  And sad.

Her coworker's are all standing by her praying for her and with her.

There is a tiny bit of romance.  Mary drug her feet to the end of the book before she decided she really did like Parker her coworker and not her boss Tyler the owner of the vet practice.

Mary's grandmother is a real 'Peach' and that is what her nick name is. Peach bajes pies for everyone including the Widowerers in town.

And surprisingly there is no murder.

A welcome change.

There are drug trafficers and break in's and stalkers but the main focus is Mary's focus on starting a Dog Shelter.

Everything comes together nicely at the end. The bad guys caught. The stalker goes into rehab.

And Mary's shelter gets it's start.

I WILL be reading book 2 pay day!

I enjoyed the audio version. I lucked out an a deal on Audible.

I was not asked to write this review.

This review will be posted on my S.M. platforms including my blogs.  And Goodreads.

This book and the series will be a part of  the 6th Annual Dog Days of Summer event.
