About the book
The Dog Sitter Detective Takes the Lead by Antony Johnston
Gwinny Tuffel is preparing for her first acting role in a decade in the West End, but she is dog-sitting on the side to keep the wolf from the door. So, when ageing rock star Crash Double needs help with his Border Collie, she jumps at the chance. After all, looking after the charming Ace on Crash's Little Venice houseboat shouldn't be an onerous task. But that's before the singer's dead body surfaces during the annual Canal Carnival festivities. While the police dismiss the death as an accident, Gwinny suspects murder most foul. With a medley of suspects and some far-fetched motives to make heads or tails of, it is up to Gwinny, with Ace's on-the-ground knowledge, to make sure the killer faces the music.
And I thought
Well I immediately liked the person that ended up being the victim.
This was a great read! A new to me author and series.
I will definitely read more.
Gwinny the main character is my age. It was fun seeing an energetic and fiesty older woman.
Her retired detective boy friend is also a great character. He is a recent widow and still wears his wedding band. Until mid way thru the book Gwinny sees it is gone. She's still hoping for that 1st kiss.
Along with Gwinny I felt sad for Ace the victims dog. Ace is a border collie that keeps Ginny the pet sitter on her toes.
The other sub main characters Johnnie Roulette and Fox Double Jones Crashes ex wife were charming and I enjoyed them.
(I don't suspect they will be in future titles. And that saddens me.)
There ends up being several on Gwinny's suspect list including Fox and Johnnie.
But in the end I was surprised at who the real villian was.
I really liked the cover which held some great clues.
I enjoyed the Audio Version on YouTube.
No one asked me to write a review.
