Tea With Jam and Dread My Review

Image
About the book . . . Cape Cod tearoom owner Lily Roberts leaves New England for old England to attend a party for an aristocratic centenarian—but what goes on there is anything but noble . . . Long ago, Lily’s grandmother Rose worked as a kitchen maid at Thornecroft Castle, and now Elizabeth, Dowager Countess of Frockmorton, is celebrating her 100th birthday. Rose still has fond feelings for her onetime employer, so a group trip to Yorkshire is planned. It’s also an opportunity for Lily to visit her boyfriend, who’s currently working in England—and to indulge in some British tea. Much has changed, however, and the ancestral home is now a luxury hotel, which will be closed for a week to accommodate the big bash, much to the chagrin of Elizabeth’s grandson, Julien. Lily  overhears an argument among the younger generation about the fate of the family fortune. Little do they know that Elizabeth plans to sell the famous Frockmorton Sapphires out of the family for the first time i...

Hard time loading pics.  My Happy  Tuesday  pic I guess is loading around in space.  I am documenting  my meals  I am trying to really lower not only my expenses but my Blood Pressure.   I may have shared this.  Charlotte Beans. Actually  pretty good but ne3ded more spices.   I was trying to finish off Mushrooms. They were good on top of my rice.  I guess it was Mexican Style Stir Fry.  Last of Spinach. Two Jalepeno poppers from night before.  The very last overfilled a 1 egg omelet.   My first try at Refried Black Beans with slice of Cheese in case I could not gag them down.  With extra Salsa and Sour Cream could not even tell they weren't Pintos.  First attempt at Grits after trying a bite at my Grand Sons day. My son inlay fixed him a bowl with ground sausage in it.  Mine are plain but I did not cook long enough.  I did not add salt and I should has added some and more butt...

A Cryptic Clue by Victoria Gilbert My Review

Image
About the book . . .  A retired librarian gets back to the books—and into a devilish murder case—in acclaimed author Victoria Gilbert’s new series, the perfect literary adventure for fans of Kate Carlisle and Jenn McKinlay. Sixty-year-old Jane Hunter, forced into early retirement from her job as a university librarian, is seeking a new challenge to keep her spirits up and supplement her meager pension. But as she’s about to discover, a retiree’s life can bring new thrills—and new dangers. Cameron “Cam” Clewe, an eccentric 33-year-old collector, is also seeking something—an archivist to inventory his ever-expanding compendium of rare books and artifacts. Jane’s thrilled to be hired on by Cam and to uncover the secrets of his latest acquisition, a trove of items related to the classic mystery and detective authors. But Jane’s delight is upended when a body is discovered in Cam’s library. The victim, heir to a pharmaceutical fortune, was the last in line of Cam’s failed romances...

Reserved for Murder by Victoria Gilbert My Review

Image
My Review    I just finished  a good book. I enjoyed  the audio version on YouTube.   Thus was a good Cozy Mystery.   A new to me series.  The plot was good and kept me turning the pages.  The plot included two mysteries.   A Murder.  And the question  about what the mysterious visitor next door is really  upto.  The main plot revolves around a Romance Authors book tour.  The Author is booked into Chapters  Bed and Breakfast.   And then. One if the guests the winner of a Meet the Aurhor  weekend is found murdered in town.  Charlotte the main character  ends up doing a bit of sleuthing to find the killer.   The guests and a couple of suspicious characters become the main suspects.   There ends up being the beginning of a romance for Charlotte.   I am interested  in seeing how that is played out as the series progresses.  Somethi...

I am trying to loose weight and eat healthier and save money.  I am happy to say I made a pot of Pinto beans and ate them all all!  They were different than normal.  I cannot make decent Beans without a Ham Bone.  I made a Charro Bean recipe with Beef Kielbasa Browned and cut into chunks.  I also added a Beef Soup Bine that had lots of meat.    My Red Rice or Mexican Rice is getting better.  I had  Beans and Corn  Bread on day 1  Beans n Rice on Day 2. And last night the rest of,Rice Beans and Mushrooms I needed to cook.   I am hoping to save a wad of cash this month.  I need to but a car.   I was able to depict 200.00 this month.   Here's  my photos . . .  My Breakfast Lunch combo Earlier in week.  Fresh Spinach. A kale Salad I stir fried with Beets.  Beets are questionable.   Nobody.  But not great.  Finished  of my fresh Blueberries.   I als...

Shadow of the Missing by Lauren Carr

Image
My Review  I had forgotten  how much I enjoy Lauren Carr's books.  It has been awhile since I have read a Chris Matheson and a Geezer Squad title.  I think one of the best things that Lauren Carr does is including a cast of characters.  Which is important  because there are a lot of characters to keep straight.  There are alot of suspects in Shadows of the Missing because there are alot of victims in this 45 year old cold case.  The main story revolves around the search for Helen Chris's wife's parents.  Helen and her younger sister have memories  from the last time they saw their mom.  Lauren  Carr keeps the reader interested  with multi plots that actually  all weave together  in one main plot.    There are some great regular characters in the series that uncover leads and hidden secrets.  And new characters like Percy  that I suspect might make their way into another title.  I r...

A Gift in Tme by Shaen Layle My Review

Image
My Review  I received an Advanced Copy from the author.   I always enjoy getting into a new series.  I did not see a reference to a series. I assume there will be more to come.  Shaen Layle captured my interest.  The reader is taken on a road filled with  lots  of  twists and turns.  A special  antique is found. Lost. Stolen. Recovered.  Who dun it? Is the question.   Who is following the main character  Sarah.  And sneaking into her yard and trying to get into her house?  Who is trying to sabotage Sarah's brand new business.  Lots of characters are introduced.  Several that will be a part I believe  and hope the cast in future installments.  Sarah being newly returned to town finds there are old relationships that  need mending.  And new aquitances that might be love interest in the future.  The reader is taken back in time as the history  of a special musi...

Foodie Friday

I will add more photos.  Today I am finishing a baby quilt for my 1 year old Grand Son.   I have been trying to eat carefully and healthy.  Trying to loose weight.  From the freezer. It was not any better.  The stew meat was tuff.  I even recook3d in sliwe cooker.  The Rice however was best I ave made since loosing my recipe.  The very light lunch.  I did have chips and Sala for a snack.  Dropped my Egg as I was picking up.  Probably  ate too many Potatoes.  But they were heated in Air Fryer.   I still really do not like the Peel.  I xan mostly manage if it is my Tuba Salad. I only ate 2 pieces of Apple.  The first try of the Stew Meat.  Not a keeper.  I might just order a Chuck Toast and cut my own.  I can manage 1 Apple.  A half a Chicken Breast and too many Potatoes The 2nd Batck of Tuna Casserole. I added Sour Cream Butter and Milk it was much better
