Day 1
I remember Grandma's Kitchen with fondness.
Above her stove hung a dish in the shape of a leaf with gold trim it read " Friends are like the leaves they come and go . . . "
I cannot recall the rest of the poem, but everytime I visted her stove , I recited those words. She would turn and smile at me knowing that her silent message would stick with me and her prayers would be answered.
Her smile conveyed assurance and confidence that her silent voice was heard, understood and valuable.
As I reflect on today's readings I realized that love doesn't always have to be expressed verbally. My father always said, "I show you I love you. Sometimes words are just words."
He was right . He learned well from my grandmother in her kitchen.
1 John 3:17 NAS
But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him , now does the love of God abide in him?
And verse 18 goes onto to day . . .
Little children ,let us not love with word or with tongue but in deed and truth.
