Healing The Hero My Review by Elle E Kay
About the book . . .
He's the boss she can't resist. She's the blessing he never saw coming.
Former Army Ranger Daniel Winchester is a man haunted by his past. The weight of command, the loss of his men, and a painful betrayal by his ex-fiancée, Ivy, have left him with scars that run deeper than the battlefield. He's returned to Freedom Ridge, a place that once offered solace, but now feels empty. He’s convinced himself that professional distance is the only way to protect his heart, especially from his new, captivating chef.
Ashley Castle arrived in Colorado for a fresh start, not a complicated romance. Her culinary skills are undeniable, but her heart is as vulnerable as her artistic spirit. She’s drawn to her brooding, handsome boss, Dan, but his hot-and-cold demeanor leaves her confused and longing for clarity. When strange incidents begin to plague Dan’s life and a dangerous secret from her past threatens to unravel everything, Ashley finds herself in the crosshairs of an unknown enemy.
As danger mounts and their undeniable attraction sparks, Dan must confront his demons and learn to trust again, before he loses the one woman who can heal his wounded heart. But can Ashley convince him that some risks are worth taking, even when their lives are on the line?
And I thought . . .
I found this authors books last
week when I read a Romantic Suspense Collection.
I was intrigued to find a Sweet Christian Romance.
This was a good book. It had all the criteria for said genre.
It was also fast paced.
I enjoyed the plot and it was well written.
And I enjoyed that the author cleaned everything up in the end and explained why all the drama started.
I have to say sadly it took me a while to like Dan Daniel the male lead. At times he was a bit of a jerk to Ashley. he was rude at times and played his boss card hurting Ashley's feelings by accusing her of flirting with another employee and informed her that there was a no dating policy. Which apparently did not include him. He let his ex who was also his employee hang all over him then didn't bother to mention the incident to Ashley after they began a relationship. Then asked for her resignation when he accused her of keeping an important detail from him concerning an attempt on his dad's life.
These actions were more about his loss of faith than PTSD so it was difficult for me to really like him.
He did redeem himself with Ashley and turned out to be kind and thoughtful.
There were several other characters whom I learned have thier own stories in other titles in this series of 18 titles.
I did not really care for the narration there were 2 voices for Ashley. 1 very female and sweet. The other more manly.
I enjoyed the audio version on YouTube. I look forward reading more.
