Cape Corral Keeper by Christy Barritt My Review
About the book
They agreed to marry. But they never agreed to fall in love. When Cape Corral Fire Chief Dillon McGrath saves a woman wearing a wedding dress from drowning, he knows he’ll have a great story to tell the guys at the station later. He never expected to get personally involved in the woman’s plight to stay alive.Gracie Loveland had no choice but to run only moments before saying “I do” to her manipulative fiancé. Staying would have ultimately meant her death at the hands of the cruel man. Desperation, along with a dormant feistiness, surfaces as she fights to survive.Only one plan might keep Gracie safe and help Dillon preserve the island’s wild horses. The idea seems crazy, but Dillon and Gracie can think of no other options. However, a foe from Gracie’s past is closing in, determined to get what he wants regardless of whose life he destroys in the process.
My Review
I am enjoying this series so much.
I loved reading Dillon and Gracie's love story.
How they met is a bit crazy. And then the aftermath!
Dillon almost arrests Gracie but she managed to talk her way out. But not before Dillon sentences her to community service. Her job mucking the stalls at the horse barn.
Dillon expected the job to knock some sense into Gracie. Get her off her 'high horse". And maybe humble her a bit. He was shocked when she stood up to him.
And finished the entire barn after he told her she could be done.
The job gave Gracie a chance to remember her parents. How much she loved and missed them and how much she wished for thier approval.
As Dillon and Gracie are thrown together they begin having feelings for each other.
Dillon Promises to keep her safe from the crazies after her.
When Dillon's mom surprises him with a visit Gracie has to think fast to make an excuse why she had slept in the guest room.
Dillon's mom finds Gracie enchanting as they get to know each other over baking pies.
Dillon is stunned to enter the scene hearing Gracie belting out
A Spoon Full of Sugar.
Several of the cast circle in different scenes and Gracie feels a part of the family and a part of the town.
A couple of scenes made me laugh . . .
"I saw it on a YouTube Video" Dillon said.
And
"Underneath all this bravado you do have a sensitive side. " Gracie said.
There were several twists and turns keeping this reader on the edge of the seat.
Do I dare say they just keep getting better?
I enjoyed the YouTube version.
I am already planning on reading book 4.
I was not asked to write a review.
