Caught on the Book by Lauara Gail Black My Review

About the book

The annual fishing tournament and festival in Hokes Folly, North Carolina, is the high-water mark event of the year. Antiquarian bookseller Jenna Quinn, owner of the Twice Upon a Time bookstore, is ready to catch some new customers with her fishing-themed book display at the festival. That is, she was...until a local author was found dead in his booth.

All fingers point to Frank Sutter, a former detective with the police department. His soon-to-be ex-wife had been dating the victim, and Frank had been seen having an argument with him earlier that day. When Keith Logan, Jenna’s boyfriend and detective with the local police, asks Jenna for help to solve the case, she’s shocked. Frank was Keith’s former partner and someone who had been determined to pin more than one murder on Jenna. Frank doesn’t want Jenna’s help any more than Jenna wants to help him, but the two will have to put aside their animosity for each other if they want to reel in the killer.

This bookselling sleuth knows she will have to cast a wide net in order to catch the killer, even if means dangerously luring them in. Will her novel idea help her catch the killer, or is she bound for a more deadly ending?

And I thought . . .

I can easily say This IS The Best Book I have read this year.

Author Laura Gail Black penned a page turner that kept me intrigued for hours turning the pages.

Not just because one of the suspects could have been a relative.  Seriously!

I sure hoped Brenda Grantham was innocent!

There were some great lines making me laugh.  Some moments that made me gasp along with Jenna. Some making me a bit sad.

I laughed as Jenna's friend tried to pawn off a new kitten on Jenna.

"I see thru your tricks lady . . . If you don't take the money I will have to take a kitten!' Jenna said to  Dana the baker.

At 1 point Jenna was with me on 'our' opinion of Belinda Grantham as a suspect

And Jenna said. "I'm not sure. She's the weak link. . .Since her manuscript wasn't  sent to publishers.  We just have a woman scorned since Greg left her for another woman.

I couldn't hold back the laugh when Frank stuck out his tongue at me Jenna thought.

...A wrote iron gate opened. Grandiose didn't begin to describe Brenda Grantham's massive three story mansion ...a Widows  Walk topped the metal roof.

...Belinda had stabbed the portrait..." I stopped and snapped a picture of the portrait.

This title is full of fun and interesting characters as evidenced by the above quotes.

It was a bit refreshing for me that Jenna’s  Detective boyfriend actually asked her to investigate.   At least until she began being harassed and her house was broken into.

But Jenna stood strong and saw it to the end.

Finding the real murderer.   And even filling a need of the city shop owners by establishing a security system for the town.

And a home fir the last kitten.

I am definitely going to be reading more titles in this series.

I also really  liked the cover.

I enjoyed the free audio version on YouTube.

No one asked me to write this review.
