Saltwater Cowboy by Christy Barritt My Review

 About the book

He’s trying to forget. She’d give anything to remember. Officer Levi Sutherland wants to protect the wild horses of Cape Corral and keep the island residents safe. But memories of his deceased wife haunt him at every turn and make him long for a fresh start. When a woman washes ashore with a bullet wound and no memories, Levi knows he can’t leave until he discovers what happened to her. The woman—whose necklace reads Dani—captures Levi’s attention like no one has in a long time. But which side of the law is she on? Could Dani be mixed up with other mysterious incidents happening on the island? Together, can the two find answers and create new memories? Or will secrets tear them apart and destroy a future as uncertain as Dani’s past?

And I thought

Author Christy Barritt is taking the spot of new favorite author.

This is the 2nd book bt the author I had read but 1st in this series.

To tell you how great this title  is I read/listened to it in 1 day.  I did enjoy the audio version so it was easy to finish so fast.

I have recommended this title to my daughter  and dil.  We all love Cowboys.  And the island horses is a favorite theme. We had the pleasure of having a Chincotgue Pony boarding with us at one time.

It was really enjoyable reading about the island horses.

The plot was great.

There were a few surprises for me. One when a foal disappeared. I suspected he was stolen. I was wrong.

I did not put anything together on why the real reason for the dead body and why Danni was shot.

Danni and Levi were great characters.

His devotion to Danni, the Wild Horses (most have name's) his personal horse Lena, and the towns folk of  Cape Corral island is charming.  And his trust and belief in God makes him a wonderful character.

I enjoyed the YouTube Version.

I was not asked to write a review.

The Cover

The cover bothers me. The way the illustrator dressed Levi is not correct.  A real horseman whether in Texas or North Carolina is not gonna be wearing baggie jeans. At least they appear to be in the photo.

Also Levi wears his badge on his belt and the buckle doesn't say Cowboy.

More than likely he would be wearing chaps as he would be riding through tall grass and woods while keeping watch on island horses.
